Surfing Legend Tamayo Perry Dies After Shark Attack in Hawaii

Tamayo Perry, 49, passed away on Sunday afternoon after being attacked while surfing in Hawaii.

Perry was a surfer, lifeguard, and actor who had roles in the Pirates of the Caribbean and Blue Crush films.

Perry was surfing at Goat Island, off the coast of Oahu, when he was attacked by a shark. Witnesses reported that the shark was approximately 12 feet long.

Perry was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has closed the waters around Goat Island to swimming and surfing. The DLNR is also investigating the incident.

Perry's death is a reminder of the dangers of swimming and surfing in Hawaii's waters. Sharks are a common sight in Hawaii, and they can be dangerous to humans.

If you are planning to swim or surf in Hawaii, be sure to take precautions to protect yourself from sharks. These precautions include swimming in a group, staying close to shore, and avoiding swimming in areas where sharks are known to be present.
